Comprehensive yield loss protection for foodgrains, pulses, oilseeds, and horticultural crops. Protects against: prevented sowing/germination, standing crop losses (drought, flood, pests), mid-season localized adversity (hailstorm, landslide, cloudburst), and post-harvest losses up to 14 days for crops dried in cut-and-spread condition.
What is Missing: Critical Policy Exclusions & Limitations
Eligo disclosure: Private insurance agents and official ads rarely mention these limitations. Verify before relying on this coverage.
Losses from nuclear risks, riots, malicious damage, and domestic animal grazing are strictly excluded. For localized calamities, failure to notify within 72 hours on the Crop Insurance App or Kisan Call Centre will invalidate the claim. Harvest losses left in bundles rather than spread condition are not covered.
✦ Eligibility Requirements
All farmers including sharecroppers and tenant farmers growing notified crops in notified insurance units. Completely voluntary for both loanee (KCC) and non-loanee farmers.
✦ Application, Enrollment & Claims Process
1. Check notified crop and cut-off dates on pmfby.gov.in.
2. Apply online at National Crop Insurance Portal or visit Bank / Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) / CSC.
3. Submit land ownership record (RoR), sowing certificate, and bank details.
4. Pay nominal farmer premium share (1.5% - 5%) to receive insurance policy receipt.Official Portal
